About me

Hello, I'm Rebecca.

Rebecca Rodgers, psychodynamic counsellor

I have over 20 years' experience working in a variety of roles across mental health services. Throughout my career, I have worked in NHS inpatient services, secure mental health services and therapeutic charities, supporting people with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.

I work with adults from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences, recognising that each person brings their own circumstances, relationships and history to therapy. My experience has taught me that there is no single way of understanding what someone is going through, and I believe it is important to take the time to understand each person as an individual.

As a psychodynamic counsellor, my approach is grounded in psychoanalytic theory. I am interested in how our earlier experiences and relationships can influence the way we think, feel and relate to ourselves and others in the present. Counselling provides a space to reflect on these experiences and consider how they may continue to influence us, sometimes in ways that are not immediately apparent.

What may bring people to seek counselling

You may be experiencing anxiety or low mood, living with the effects of trauma, or finding relationships difficult to navigate. You may be struggling with food or body image, adjusting to physical illness, or coming to terms with loss or bereavement. Perhaps you are going through a period of change, facing difficult life choices, or finding yourself caught in thoughts and feelings that are hard to understand. Sometimes, you may simply feel that things are not quite as you would like them to be, without knowing exactly why.
